Easy Strawberry Crumble Tarte

It was a huge success and many of my followers decided to prepare it the very same day, even prior me to post it on the blog! So, here it is: simple, easy and delicious.
Strawberry Crumble Tarte
Ingredients for the crumble
- 300g all purpose flour
- 200g sugar
- 100g butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- grated lemon peel
Ingredients for the strawberry “ragù” sauce
- strawberries (about 300g)
- 3 tbs sugar
- 1tbs butter
- 1/2 lemon juice
How to make the Strawberry Crumble Tarte
- Prepare the Strawberry sauce: heat the sugar with 2 tbs of water, add the butter and the strawberries chopped. Cook for some minutes until the water evapoate. If you prefer, you can add some liqueur and let it evaporate.
- In a bowl put the sugar and the flour with the butter and the lemon grated peel. Rub all the ingredients with circular moviments of your hands. You shall obtain some crumbles, not a paste – see the video below). Important: use cold ingredients!
- Cover with half of the crumble a butter-greasy baking tin. Pour on the crumbles the strawberry sauce and cover with the remaining crumbles. Cook in the middle of pre-heaten oven 360°F for 30′ minutes or until golden-brown.

If you prefer the “English Crumble Style” you can put on the bottom of the pan only the strawberry sauce and cover all over with the top layer of the crumble. However, I prefer this cake with two layers of crumble.
